Took over the Two Raw Sisters app. Not one late release since.

How did InApps help Two Raw Sisters?

Two Raw Sisters, a food brand in Christchurch, New Zealand, runs a subscription recipe app for 6,000+ subscribers. When its previous vendor left no documentation and critical bugs still live, it brought in InApps, a software company in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. Since August 2025 a dedicated five-person InApps team has audited and stabilised the app, brought its data back in sync, added analytics and a web version, and runs it as a managed service.

About Two Raw Sisters

A Christchurch food brand run by sisters Margo and Rosa. Its subscription app carries 850+ recipes on iOS and Android, built around one habit: type in what is in the fridge, find a recipe.

The challenge

The setup the previous vendor left behind relied on third-party services that fell out of sync, so the app crashed often and its data drifted. There were no handover notes, no usage data and no web version.

A live subscription app that kept crashing, and no one who could safely change the code.

The solution

We started with a pilot on search. Then we took over in the order the risk demanded: audit and document the inherited code, fix what subscribers could feel, and only then build. We consolidated the data infrastructure underneath so the third-party services stay in sync, and organised it so the client can check its own data with AI. Then we built search as its own service on AWS beside DatoCMS, a live analytics dashboard and a web version.

Questions about this project

InApps took over the Two Raw Sisters recipe app from a previous vendor, audited and documented the inherited code, fixed the critical bugs affecting live subscribers, and consolidated the data infrastructure so the app's third-party services stay in sync. It then built a dedicated search service on AWS alongside the DatoCMS content system, a real-time analytics dashboard, and a web version of the app, and it continues to run and extend the product as a managed service.
The iOS and Android apps share one React Native codebase. The backend runs on Node.js with PostgreSQL and Redis, hosting is on AWS with real-time services on Firebase, content lives in DatoCMS, and search is a dedicated service on AWS that InApps recommended and built.
Since August 2025. The engagement started with a pilot project on search and is still running as a managed service, more than a year later.
Four, at once. The previous vendor had left no documentation; the app depended on third-party services that fell out of sync, so it crashed often and its data drifted; there was no real-time data on how people used the app; and the product existed only as a mobile app, with no web version.
It began with a code audit of the inherited app and continues as a managed service, delivered by a dedicated five-person InApps team based in Vietnam: a project manager, a solution architect, two backend engineers and a mobile engineer. InApps owns delivery and operation of the product, and reports progress to the client almost daily.
Yes, and this project is one example. New Zealand is five hours ahead of Vietnam, six during New Zealand summer time. The five-person InApps team in Ho Chi Minh City reports progress to Two Raw Sisters in Christchurch almost daily, and the client's verified Clutch review says deliveries have always been on time. InApps has run the product this way since August 2025.
InApps stabilised the app for its 6,000+ active subscribers, brought its data back in sync, moved search to its own service, and added analytics and a web version. It has shipped 25+ App Store releases since August 2025, none of them late. The client rated InApps 5.0 out of 5 for quality, schedule, cost and willingness to refer in a verified Clutch review. The app itself holds a 4.9 rating from 1,217 ratings on the New Zealand App Store, as of September 2026.
In the order the risk demands. InApps reads and documents the inherited code first, with a handover from the outgoing vendor where it can get one. Then it fixes the production issues users can see, with regression tests before every release. New work starts only after that. The first step is the same work as our code audit and remediation service, and the ongoing part is application managed services, delivered by a dedicated development team.
